If you have a broken item and want to return it for repair, please take a look at the repair types (1 and 2) below and choose the one that best matches your situation. You should receive an email confirmation of the order after a few minutes; please use the order number as an RMA and include it somewhere on the outside of the return package.
When we receive your package we will evaluate it and contact you if we determine the repair will cost more than the order you placed. We won't charge you extra without first getting your ok.
What to send back:
FIU-004/5 systems - for these systems the repair is much more reliable if the interface unit is returned along with the broken handheld device, because this enables us to set the optical losses in the handheld device optimally for the specific interface unit. We recognize it is often inconvenient to do this. If the interface unit is returned with the broken handheld device, we discount the repair cost by 20% (please enter the discount code RET-INT at checkout).
FIU-904 and -932 systems - for these systems there's no need to return anything other than the broken device itself. All 9xx system repairs qualify for a 20% repair discount because they do not require return of the interface unit or removable bundle (please enter 932-INT at checkout).
Ordering a spare:
If you have a broken device, and you order a spare at the same time as ordering a repair, the spare will be discounted by 15%. In this case, we can arrange with you to send the spare before you return the faulty device (this will generally add a shipping charge).
Ordering a loaner system:
We have a limited supply of devices for short term loan during repairs. If you place an order for a loaner system we will contact you by email about the availability and time frame for providing it. Most of our loaner systems are based on the 904 interface unit.
Shipping charges:
We ask that you pay the shipping costs to return the equipment to us. We will pay the charges to return it to you after the repair if the device is under warranty. This is explained in our warranty page on this web site. So please select the "Free- (or No-) Shipping" method of shipping in the checkout process.
Repair timeframe:
Returned items are usually in our offices for repair for 2 to 3 days. This is usually enough time for good diagnosis, repair, and re-testing before returning the repaired equipment to you. In more complicated cases we will contact you to discuss what is going on and, potentially, to ask for your approval to go ahead. In some cases, depending on our "load" at the time, we can complete the diagnose-repair-retest cycle the same day that we receive the equipment, but we can't promise this.
Note: one of the most common delays arises from incomplete shipping addresses. Please be sure to provide a very clear address for the return shipment to avoid delays!
Repair warranty:
Repaired items are warranted for an additional six months following the repair, unless we find that the item is being repeatedly broken from abusive handling. Please complete this Repair Form to email us the important information about the items to be repaired.
